Training for 5k

Okay so for the next 4 weeks I am officially "training" for the 5k on April 4th. I printed up a training schedule on the Internet and am going to focus all of my workouts around this schedule. This means I will not be exercising as much as I have been! I do have a fear that change will stall my weight loss but, this [the 5k] is a goal I have had for a really long time and I know that if I stick to my diet I will continue to lose weight.

My goal for the 5k is to complete it in under 35 minutes! We shall see. For now, I'm keeping track of how fast I'm running in a new list on the sidebar. I definitely want to be able to see where I started and how far I've come when I'm done with all of this.

This morning I ran 2.5 miles in 28 minutes, 50 seconds! I am really excited about this number! Can't wait to see where it goes from here! ;o)

You can do it! The change in your exercise routine, might actually help with the weight loss... I think change is good with workouts :)

Oh you can TOTALLY do it in under 35 minutes! I made it in 32 or so last year and that was at a slow jog and walking up the one hill...

Man, I don't think I could run a 5k. Or maybe I could, but choose not to. LOL. I've always been a fast runner, but never long distance. Heck, I don't even know how far 5k is (in terms of miles). Anyway, congrats on that goal! That sounds like a great one to work towards. Can't wait to hear how the training goes. I agree with Vicki, the change in your workouts might have a positive effect. My husband & I were just talking about that yesterday. How we needed to make changes in what we were doing because we've been doing the exact same exercise routine for the past 2 months. So we're doing different equipment by going to the gym. Anyway, good luck! Can't wait to hear how it all goes.

Way to go, Katie! Also, you are changing things up, which always makes our bodies "react". Who knows, you may have more luck than you thought you would.
