Just a thought.

I've been thinking a lot lately about why so many people who lose weight gain it all back. Here is what I came up with.
Too many of us approach weight loss as making temporary changes in order to produce permanent results. Unfortunately this is not the case.
Temporary changes yield temporary results.
If you want results that last, you must change your habits indefinitely. Only permanent changes will yield permanent results.

I also think that people don't do the mental work that is involved. The don't make the emotional/mental changes that is needed to create lasting benefits. If it's just weight loss it WILL come back because there is usually some inner demon or issue that is causing or has caused us to climb into our cave of comfort food and hybernation. We have to do the work, make the changes, solve the issues, progress in order for the changes to be lasting. It IS a metamorphosis. A caterpiller cannot turn back into a caterpiller once it changes into a butterfly. And when someone takes the self improvement journey, clears out the mental and emotional clutter and actually is aware, they don't go back either. So yeah, people need to do some deep thinking, and that's one of the reasons why this blog thing and this community is so helpful.

Great thinking Karilynn. I hope it gets others to think as well.

Seriously! I’m not sure I tell you enough how much I love your freaking guts and how much you mean to me! Never in my life have I come so far in doing just that, making permanent changes. It really is because of you. Seeing you accomplish what you have made me realize this was possible. I’ve never been surer of myself and my abilities to do this than now. Thanks Karilynn for everything.
Thanks for keeping it real too. Sometimes we fat people don’t want to hear what needs to be said but I’m glad that you keep saying it. We might not always like it but we definitely need someone to be speaking truth into our lives.
Anyway, THANKS!!!

lol Okay, so I'm one of those people who didn't make it a permanant change. And I gotta tell you, it is really discouraging to be losing the weight yet again. lol
